Zim Smith Trail Extension

Completion Dates

  • Elizabeth Street to the east side of Coons Crossing including 2 parking lots and bathroom – (Fall 2019)
  • Coons Crossing (west side) to Village of Round Lake including the parking lot at Coons Crossing (Spring 2020)
  • Round Lake parking lot (Spring 2019, topcoat in Spring 2020)
  • Eastline Road improvements (Spring 2020)

Near-term plans call for extending the trail east to Mechanicville by late 2019 or early 2020 for an eventual connection to the future Champlain Canalway Trail. Longer-term plans propose a northern route through Saratoga Spa State Park to Railroad Run in Saratoga Springs. The trail, named for local historic preservationist Zimri Smith, has been honored as a National Recreation Trail by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
